Embossing cylinder

The embossing cylinder is created via the gravure cylinder; only the copper layer for information transfer is somewhat thicker (depending on the motif from 0.7 to 1.2 mm). The copper comes from the same electroplating process as gravure copper and therefore has the same characteristics, e.g. hardness of 190-220° HV. The surface remains as it is when it comes from the polish master after fine milling. Further finishing is not necessary. The thickness of the chrome layer, which is applied after milling and edge finishing, can vary between 12 and more than 20µm depending on the application and motif. If gradation and distortion are planned on the side and/or in the scale in the printing process this must also be taken into account with the embossing cylinders.
