The contract proof is the result of the colour separation in reproduction. It must simulate the final print result with a maximum degree of precision, so it can be guaranteed that relevant deviations can occur either at the final proof or in production run printing. This is only possible because this colour binding proof, in contrast to the target proof, contains very printer-specific information about special colours, print colour management, substrates and many other printing parameters.
