A printing form is the medium with which you can transfer ink and therefore information onto a printing substrate. The structure and specific nature of the printing form ultimately depend on the printing process and the printing substrate. Roughly speaking, in terms of the materials it can be said that metal plates are used in offset while metal cylinders are used in gravure. In flexo printing the printing forms (flexo printing forms) are mainly made of plastic polymers or elastomers. As regards the form, a corresponding distinction is made between printing cylinders (gravure) and printing plates (offset printing) or plates (flexo printing).
