ICC-profile

The profiling of all input devices (scanners, digital cameras) and output devices (colour proofers, monitors, printing presses) plays an important role for colour-faithful image reproduction in the image processing process. ICC profiles allow an unequivocal definition of the colour spaces on these devices. ICC stands for International Colour Consortium. Numerous graphics, image processing and layout program manufacturers decided to promote the standardisation of colour management systems in 1993. ICC thus describe the colour space of a complex printing condition on the one hand, and on the other the description of the characteristics of a proofer and are thus used to calibrate this device.
