Flexo printing is a widely established printing technology. We manufacture printing forms for packaging printing, which are tailored for the widest variety of applications. The spectrum ranges from flexible packaging from roll-to-roll to sheet-fed printing in cardboard packaging. We serve the need for printing forms in the decor sector, on the other hand, to produce gift paper, napkins or rulings which are sold worldwide.
We have made a targeted investment in past years in know-how, innovation and machines for the professional manufacture of flexo printing forms. Our product range is correspondingly extensive: We cover the entire range of flexo printing forms from elastomer printing forms for endless printing up to laser imaged polymer plates and sleeves for high-quality printing. Our range also includes lacquer plates as well as elastomer sleeves for refining offset prints with UV, matt, glossy lacquers and metallic colours. The printing forms can be manufactured by using different processes:
1. Analogue plate manufacture/film imaging
Analogue plate manufacture is the oldest process for producing flexo printing forms, which we now only use in a few individual cases. The flexible printing plates are imaged using analogue repro technology, washed with solvents and then dried.
2. Digital print form manufacture (sleeve and plate)
Digital printing form production is the method most commonly used in the market. The printing plates are imaged directly by a laser with an imaging resolution of up to 4,000 ppi. The digital flexo printing form has outclassed the analogue form in terms of printing quality and furthermore offers a clearly extended tonal value spectrum with fine vignettes, exceptionally good reproduction of highlights and shadows as well as very good repeatability. Depending on our customers’ requirements we can implement screen resolutions of up to 70 l/ cm.
3. Nyloflex NExT (NEU)
The innovative way of exposing flexographic printing plates with UV-A LED’s offers great possibilities to establish a new quality standard for flexo form making. The high level of UV emission leads to a significant impromement in the reproduction of finest relief elements. The ability to reproduce high resolution surface screenings provides superior print quality with much better ink laydown. The improved mechanical properties and the precisely defined surface of flat top dots ensure a consistent high print quality, also for long print runs. In comparison to typical digital dots, the physical characteristics of flat top dots enable reduced dot gain tolerances, which are usually caused by varying impression settings. The nyloflex NExT system can be used with virtually all types of digital plates; there are no limitations regarding plate types, substrates and ink systems.
We achieve extremely precise, sharp printing results with HD-Flexo imaging technology. During digital plate production it allows the combination of high-resolution optics of 4,000 ppi with unique screen technologies. With HD-Flexo we can obtain an excellent printing quality with glossy highlights, stable middle tones, even full tones and higher full tone densities across the entire tonal value spectrum.
5. Fast technology
The fast system also meets the highest quality requirements for the finest halftone, line and surface printing. In the course of the thermal plate treatment process, the printing plates are produced solvent-free. This leads to the disappearance of the time-consuming drying process, which categorizes fast technology as an ‘environmentally friend’ production process with short production times.
With the Flexcel NX system, we overcome the most varied restrictions on digital and analogue plate manufacturing. This is because the system allows offset-class printing quality on the most diverse printing materials. The image carrier is laminated directly on the printing plate, which prevents tonal and detail losses due to the effect of oxygen. The FLEXCEL NX system produces fully constructed screen dots with sharp profile edges, optimum socketing and an even printing surface on the printing form.
7. Direct gravure of elastomer sleeves
Elastomer printing forms convince through their high life spans and a better colour transfer. These are complemented by the advantages of seamless endless printing forms, plus, for example, higher printing speeds and better matching. We manufacture endless printing forms as sleeves or rolls by using direct gravure. Here the laser removes all non-printing areas of the printing form in a single-stage gravure process.
