Hollow cylinders or screens that offer high solidity and temperature constancy are used for rotary silkscreen printing. The ink application and doctor blade process take place during the printing procedure inside the cylinder or screen. The ink is printed from the inside towards the exterior through the perforated surface on the printing substrate. A distinction is made between electrotype screens and lacquer templates among the printing forms. With electrotype screens model and colour separation are worked in directly in the screen’s nickel electroplating. The screens do not require any further gravure. In contrast, lacquer templates are created on the basis of electroplated ‘round silk-screens’, whose openings are then sealed with a certain gravure lacquer depending on the gravure process. The gravure lacquer is then removed from the relevant openings depending on the motif. This can be done via photo technical development, wet chemical washing out or laser technology.
Intensive colour areas with a high colour density can be printed with rotary silkscreen printing, while the image impact is correspondingly brilliant. The process permits a fast production speed and is distinguished by edge and detail precision. Forceful tactile effects can also be achieved by using foam or lacquer. Rotary silkscreen printing is suitable for printing textiles, wallpapers, plastics, paper, foils and the most varied technical fabrics.
