The Australian government has rejected suggestions from one of the world's largest tobacco companies that proposed plain packaging laws for cigarettes would breach international trade rules.

The government wants to ban company logos from cigarette packs.

Philip Morris says that would violate an international trade agreement, and it's seeking billions of dollars in compensation.
