Danone Romania invests EUR 2 mln in new packaging

Dairy producer Danone Romania has invested EUR 2.3 million in new technologies for its Bucharest factory. It will thus re-launch products under new packaging.

The change will be reflected in 50% of its portfolio and 25% of the yogurt market. This technology, called KISS-keep it simple and safe, has been present in Europe (France & Spain) for three years, said Dieter Schulz, general manager with Danone for South-Eastern Europe.

“We’ve seen this opportunity and we brought it in Romania, for the first time in Eastern Europe. Investments in this technology will also contribute to increasing exports in the next years. ”

The change doesn’t apply only to the packaging, but also to the yoghurt recipes. The new products will be available starting May. Romania is not a large market in size, but it’s great as an opportunity for growth, Schulz added.
