Large investment by short run specialist Zwart

The Netherlands based printer Zwart is further increasing its production and infrastructure. By end of this month, they will add a 4th Bobst Italia MW gravure press. As with existing machines the 4th MW machine enables production of all flexible packaging substrates including front and back printing, gloss, matt and relase laquering, coldseal, heatseal, etc. The total no. of MW print units in Zwart now amounts up to 44.

In February, the company will take its 4th ree-to-reel diecut/punching machine into operation. This customized machine is now in stage of completion. The machine includes the integration, next to mechanical tooling, of a laser system enabling to perform special diecut and punch patterns for paper without the need of mechanical tooling , as well easy opening, fresh food flexpack perforations, perforated lids while saving barriere functions of the laminates. Zwart is supporting its St.Petersburg facility by the addition of a brand new DCM Panthere slitter /rewinder on top of Zwart Russia existing equipment. The Panthere will be taken into operation in January 2016.

Zwart already services in general the market for short run flexible packaging and leaves the big runs to other companies. Though specialized in short runs in gravure and web offset, Zwart is throwing up the question “how low can you go ! “ . The company will embark soon on digital print and dedicated finishing of packaging products for extremen short runs in tea packaging, meeting demands of new types of packaging machineries that make extreme short production batches. This will require a different customer service approach hence Zwart will launch an E-Commerce platform. Go live is in the cause of 2016. The equipment wil also serve various Product Development activities of Zwart.
