China's Ministry of Health has issued nutritional labelling standards for packaged products as a part of the government's plan to regulate the food and beverage industry in the country, and also to encourage consumers to make informed choices when purchasing food products. Set to commence in January 1, 2013, the new labelling guidelines mean that food manufacturers will have to validate any nutritional claims and nutrient functions.
