Arla Foods amba has made a firm offer to purchase the southern German dairy company Allgäuland-Käsereien. The offer to buy Allgäuland-Käsereien could result in Arla increasing its presence on the German market via the southern German dairy. Arla’s offer will now be presented to the Allgäuland milk producers. In a letter to the dairy farmers, the chairman of the board of Allgäuland-Käsereiens said: “We’re very pleased to receive Arla’s offer because the planned acquisition isn’t only an important, but also a necessary step towards ensuring the future of our company.” The next step in the process is that Allgäuland-Käsereien will hold a general meeting at which its milk producers will make a decision regarding the purchase offer. If they decide to accept the offer, the acquisition will be subject to approval by the EU competition authorities before the deal can be complete.
